Justin Abdelkader will stay in Zug until the end of the season. The Swiss champion activated the American’s contract option and extended the lease which was due to end at the end of the year.
The 35-year-old striker with the experience of 803 NHL games arrived in central Switzerland at the end of November to replace the seriously injured Swede Carl Klingberg. He had already worn the Zug colors during the 2020-2021 season, which ended with a league title.
Since his return, he has played six National League matches (1 assist) and two Champions League matches (1 goal).
