Despite an 80% gauge in a stadium with a capacity of 60,000 seats, the whole capital seems to have gathered around the enclosure to participate in the celebration.
The access avenues are saturated, especially as the security device accompanying the arrival of the President of the Republic Paul Biya – whose appearances are very rare – blocks a number of arteries in the city. Red, yellow and green flags have flooded the streets as the surrounding hubbub is broken by the sound of vuvuzelas. The street vendors, for their part, are making a profit with masks, flags, scarves and other jerseys.

Already a controversy before Cameroon-Burkina Faso
« Four to five managerial players » from Burkina Faso and the coach have tested positive for Covid and should miss the opening match of the African Cup, this Sunday in Yaoundé, explained Saturday the assistant coach of the Stallions, who disputes the procedure.
The latter indeed pointed to a vagueness in the organization, explaining that two different medical teams had come to test the Burkinabè delegation. « Yesterday morning (Friday) a medical team showed up to our hotel for tests, when we tried to understand who had sent them, the CAF (African Football Confederation) clearly told us that it was not them who had sent them to the team, we refused to do the tests, « said the assistant coach, while captain Bertrand Traoré denounced a » scandal « .
And to continue: « A team arrived at 10 p.m., apparently that of CAF. We carried out the tests which inform us of 4 to 5 cases of Covid. I say 4 or 5 because they say that our first player tested did not carried out the test … « The Burkinabè delegation also noted that it was about antigenic tests, and not PCR tests, which must be carried out 48 hours before the match.
