World Cup 2022: when does Ligue 1 end?


With the 2022 World Cup, scheduled for November 20 to December 18 in Qatar, Ligue 1 will experience a long truce. Here are the official dates.

A completely disrupted calendar. It is a very special season that footballers are playing in this 2022-2023 season since the 2022 World Cup will take place from November 20 to December 18.

Only, contrary to what usually happens when the World Cup is played in the summer, the qualified selections will not have three weeks – or even four – to prepare for the competition.

Indeed, the Ligue 1 players will be on an international break after the 15th day of the French championship, i.e. Sunday evening November 13.

Those who qualified with their countries for the World Cup will travel to Qatar, the others will start a 44-day winter break. According to some clubs, players will have vacations.

After the World Cup in Qatar, the resumption of Ligue 1 is scheduled for Wednesday December 28 with the 16e day, for a Boxing Day, on an exceptional basis. The 17th day will take place on Sunday January 1, 2023.

The 38th and final day of Ligue 1 will take place on Sunday June 4, 2023.

Note that Ligue 2 will also have an international break on the same dates. As well as the main European championships.
