Georginio Wijnaldum (31) arrived in Rime on Thursday where he was greeted by several hundred supporters. The PSG midfielder will commit this Friday with the Italian club.
It is not the insane reception reserved for Paulo Dybala but Georginio Wijnaldum (31 years old) has already been able to measure the fervor that awaits him in Rome. The Dutch midfielder was received by several hundred AS Roma supporters in fusion, Thursday when he arrived in the Italian capital. The tifosi took over the song that Liverpool supporters reserved for him when he played at Anfield and that he never heard during his lackluster season in Paris. And that delighted him. He walked over to the fans to greet them with a big smile. He also signed some autographs and posed for photos.
Wijnaldum landed at 5:50 p.m. at the private terminal of the airport on board a private plane belonging to Dan Friedkin, owner of the club, where the player’s entourage had taken place. The latter will pass his medical examination this Friday before signing his contract. PSG and Roma have agreed on a loan with a purchase option of eight million euros which will be exercised if José Mourinho’s team qualifies for the Champions League and Wijnaldum plays 50% of the matches. According to L’Equipe, Paris will cover 40% of the player’s salary (estimated at 900,000 euros per month).

Arrived free in Paris in 2021, the Dutch international (86 caps, 26 goals) did not really shine under the orders of Mauricio Pochettino (38 games, 3 goals). He did not fit into Christophe Galtier’s plans and wanted a change of scenery to benefit from significant playing time for the next World Cup.
His transfer will be formalized in the coming hours the day after the arrival of Renato Sanches in the French capital. Wijnaldum will discover a sixth club after Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, Newcastle, Liverpool and PSG. He will also evolve in a new championship where he already knows that he is eagerly awaited in view of the reception reserved even before he signs.
