Who is the fastest between Connor McDavid and Cale Makar?

Eight players invited to the National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star Game will battle for the title of fastest skater on the circuit. Forward Connor McDavid and defender Cale Makar will headline the friendly contest.

According to data compiled this season by the NHL, the Edmonton Oilers player and the Colorado Avalanche player were among the fastest, reaching a crazy speed of 38.8 km/h on skates.

McDavid has been the favorite for several seasons already. He won this competition from 2017 to 2019 and he could break Mike Gartner’s record by being voted the fastest player for a fourth time. In 2020, however, he was defeated by Mathew Barzal of the New York Islanders.

According to ESPN, McDavid and Makar will face Dylan Larkin, Adrian Kempe, Chris Kreider, Jordan Kyrou, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Kyle Connor. Timo Meier of the San Jose Sharks and Nick Suzuki of the Montreal Canadiens will not take part in the event, although they have both reached speeds above most of their competitors in 2021-2022.

Larkin is the only other former winner, having won it in 2016.

The skills competition will take place on Friday evening, while the all-star tournament will be held the following day in the afternoon. The TVA Sports channel will broadcast the two events presented in Las Vegas.
