Launching new media is always a challenge. Especially when it deals with sports on the net where sports sites abound. But for Timothée de Fraguier, founder of Ti Sport, there is no doubt that this 100% Brittany site will find its audience.
« I have studied the question carefully. There is no website that is not 100% multi-sport and 100% Brittany » explains journalist Timothée de Fraguier. « On our site, we only talk about sport, news about Breton sportsmen and clubs or competitions taking place in Brittany. »
« The strong point is Brittany »
For a little over a month, Ti Sport has appeared online with a maxim claimed in banner « Your sports news 100% Brittany ».
On the website, many sections, classified mainly by type of sport. A clear presentation with easy navigation: the articles of the day, editorial selections, portraits of athletes and a section on the top 5 of the most popular articles.
In these times of the Olympic Games, the news dealt with is dominated by the results of « little twenty Bretons » present at the Tokyo Olympics, explains Timothée de Fraguier. « Currently, we have an average of five articles per day, but the goal is to have more eventually. »
« This site is my magic square »
Satisfied with the site’s first audiences, « around 600 visitors per day », Timothée de Fraguier recognizes that the bet is daring given the competition online. « But one of our strengths is that the site is 100% free » and the multiple observation that emerges from the commercial study that we carried out is that « Sport is anchored in the culture of the Breton territory. It has a particular importance for all the inhabitants of the region. Despite a substantial sports offer and a growing attraction for physical activity, the sports journalistic offer is today not up to the expectations of the Breton public « asserts the young Rennais.
« A website that only talks about sport in relation to a region, there is only in Brittany where we could do that. The strong point of the site is Brittany » justifies the young journalist of 23 years.
And to continue, « For me, who studied business and then journalism, this site is my magic square: journalism, sport, Brittany and commerce with the desire to create a business ».
In his business model, the young journalist plans to « work with local businesses to find funding » and intends to rely on its « ambassadors », such as Jean Le Cam (sailing) or Pauline Coatanéa (handball Brest) to relay the existence of the site.
Currently, Timothée de Fraguier works alone with a wheel of six journalism students.
A new medium and an ambitious project of young journalists to which we wish « good luck ».
