What results for Jaren Jackson Jr.? | NBA

The return of Jaren Jackson Jr has been one of the red threads of the season for Memphis. Victim of an injury to the meniscus of the left knee in the Orlando “bubble”, the interior saw his convalescence be prolonged by several months and he finally had to wait until the end of April to find the parquet floors!

Additional rest time which was sometimes frustrating for the player, even if the latter could count on the entire workforce and staff to support him. When taking stock of his season on a personal level, Jaren Jackson Jr. could not help but have a thought for those who accompanied him to recovery.

“I’m lucky to play with these guys who respect the game so much. It’s so refreshing to play alongside them. I saw them working so hard in the shadows, I got to see what no one sees. When you’re on the floor and playing with that passion, it all comes from a real joy, a real collective effort and it reflects on the whole team. I really feel privileged to be part of this environment ”, he first said. “They made it easier for me, especially during the times when I couldn’t play and it wasn’t easy for me to just sit around… So when I came back I didn’t take it lightly. the opportunity to play with these guys. It was awesome. Every day has been an experience that I will never forget. We have accomplished a lot ”.

The valuable experience of his first playoffs

Jaren Jackson Jr. had already experienced badly having « abandoned » his teammates in the « bubble » at the end of last season because of his injury. After spending three quarters of the 2020-2021 fiscal year on the flank, he could not imagine missing the call yet again.

Of course, the former Michigan State resident could not show the same performance as during his sophomore season, with only eleven regular season games in the legs. But he contributed to the qualification of his team for the playoffs, all without getting injured again. The overall experience is therefore more than positive.

“I thank the medical staff, who allowed me to finish the season, play the last games and be able to participate in the playoffs. To have been able to benefit from this experience is something that I will not forget. Watching the playoffs in the “bubble” last year wasn’t exactly a good feeling. Even this year, it is still not, we have just been eliminated. But if you look at it in a positive light, I know what I want to work on, and I’m fortunate enough to come into the summer in good health to work on my game, polish whatever I want to polish and work hard like I do. ‘had done before the’ bubble ‘last year’.

« JJJ » is now ready to do what is necessary to access the next step for Memphis, namely to try to survive a little longer in the playoffs, with that determination that is the hallmark of the Grizzlies.

“You have to understand that we are really hungry. This is really what I have in mind. We fully intend to come every day and improve, whether by playing matches or working in the gym, we are determined ”, he added of the coming summer.
