The Enyaq Coupé is about to make its official debut. But to further stir our curiosity, Skoda has just unveiled new images and some technical information.
This is not Skoda’s first attempt to market a Coupe SUV. But almost ! The Kodiaq GT and Kamiq GT have been available in China for several years. It could be argued that this style of bodywork defeats the purpose of buying a vehicle from the Czech brand known for its extremely practical (and expansive) cars. But Coupé SUVs are on the rise. This elusive roofline is very trendy even if it cuts off the trunk by a few liters, as is the roominess in the rear seats. The “Coupé” version of the Enyaq will lose 15 liters of cargo volume. Fortunately, the trunk was initially very large and still offers 570 liters. Before its world premiere on January 31, this future SUV has just resurfaced through a few teaser images.
The opportunity for Skoda to reveal some details about the next arrival. While the classic Enyaq has a drag coefficient of 0.247, the Coupé model will lower the Cx to 0.234 and that should translate to slightly more range. On the other hand, we learn that even if it bears the word « Coupé » in its name, this SUV will in fact be one millimeter taller than the « SUV » model. It will also be 4mm longer. On the look side, it is now certain: it will share the luminous grille with the standard version.
A feeling of déjà vu?
If you have the feeling that you have already seen this brand new SUV, it is certainly because Skoda has already shown us a lot, notably by posting images of a camouflaged prototype not long ago. And also because he looks like his brother in every way, the classic Enyaq.
As previously announced, the Skoda Enyaq Coupé iV will be offered in three versions: 177 hp, 201 hp and 261 hp. You can also choose between a 62 or 82 kWh battery. We also expect an RS variant to arrive later as the Czech equivalent of the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX. We imagine that this future sports version will also benefit from 300 horsepower. The first trim levels will be satisfied with a rear-wheel drive version and a single electric motor, while the most powerful will have another engine on the front axle and will thus offer an all-wheel drive system. After its digital world premiere broadcast live from Prague at the end of the month, the Enyaq Coupé iV will be on sale at the start of the second quarter of 2022.
