Eight games were scheduled for the night in the NBA, and Washington won the shock of the Eastern Conference to the detriment of Miami (103-100). All the teams playing at home have won, except Utah, winner in Sacramento with a great Rudy Gobert (21pts, 14rbds). Evan Fournier meanwhile contributed to the victory of the Knicks (19pts).

Poster of the night: Washington – Miami

Two days after Miami’s victory over Washington in Florida (112-97), the two teams met in the capital, and this time it was the Wizards who won, with a narrower score of 103-100. After a very tight first half, the Heat thought perhaps they had done the hardest part by leading by sixteen points in the middle of the third quarter (47-63). But Washington had already made a part of its delay at the end of the quarter (68-75), and fell to -2 at the start of the last. But the Heat of Jimmy Butler (29pts) and Tyler Herro (20pts) gave a little air, leading 94-84 with 4’42 remaining. Washington did not give up, and thanks to the duo Spencer Dinwiddie (16pts) – Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (16pts), the Wizards came back to 96-96. Dinwiddie scored three points to put his team ahead, then Kyle Kuzma sealed Washington’s free throw victory. What a great comeback! Thanks to this success, DC climbs back to second place in the standings, just one victory behind leader Brooklyn.

MVP of the night: Giannis Antetokounmpo

It looks like Milwaukee’s season has finally kicked off! The Bucks signed a third straight victory this Saturday against Orlando (117-108) and move up to ninth place in the Eastern Conference. The defending champions weren’t really worried about the Floridians and led from the fifth to the last minute, with a gap that climbed to +29 late in the third quarter. Milwaukee relaxed a bit late in the game, letting the Magic come back to -5 with 17 seconds left, but the Bucks ensured the free throws. The 2021 champions will be able to say a big thank you to their MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, author of a huge double-double: 32 points (8 of 16 on shots, 15 of 23 on free throws) and 20 rebounds, to which must be added 5 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks. The Greek was everywhere, and was well helped by Bobby Portis (24pts, 15rbds). On Monday, Milwaukee will once again host Orlando. The Magic is warned.

The flop of the night: Memphis

It was a real rout that the Grizzlies experienced on the Minnesota court. Memphis lost 138-95 to Wolves, conceding their eighth loss in sixteen games, the heaviest of the season. Minnesota, led by D’Angelo Russell (28pts), Anthony Edwards (23pts) and Karl-Anthony Towns (21pts), led from the first to the last minute, and even had a lead of up to 45 points in the end of the third quarter! « In three seasons, this is probably one of our weakest games, it is unacceptable » railed Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins. Memphis star Ja Morant waited until the 19th minute to score his first basket and finished with 11 points, 3 of 9 on shots. Desmond Bane comes off with 21 points and Tyus Jones with 16, but this game will be one to forget for the Wolves, who will end their road trip in Utah on Monday.

Frenchman of the Night: Evan Fournier

Pitted against the worst team in the league, Houston, which has won only one of its fifteen games, New York may have thought of winning more easily, but the Knicks struggled, before winning 106- 99 at Madison Square Garden. In this match where no team led by more than ten points, Houston was still in the lead with 5’23 from the end (91-89), before conceding a 17-8 to finish. Evan Fournier contributed to the Knicks’ difficult success with 19 points, his second best total of the season, with a nice 5 of 10 three-pointers. To be confirmed this Sunday back-to-back in Chicago!
