Wales harmless against Albania

Above all, Rob Page wanted to give playing time to players who were not yet physically ready. He managed to do it against Albania (0-0), in front of 6,000 spectators (a first in the country since November 2019). Absent against France (0-3), Ethan Ampadu was established in central defense just like Ben Davies. In the middle, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen were also part of the starting XI. The midfielder of Juventus Turin came out slightly affected in the right leg at the hour of play. Nothing to worry about, a priori.

What is more is the harmlessness of the Welsh without Gareth Bale or Daniel James on the pitch (they were substitutes at kick-off). Sometimes interesting in attack against the Blues, even reduced to ten, they never threatened the Albanians in the first period. We had to wait for the abandonment of the system in 3-4-3 with a false 9 and the transition to 4-2-3-1 at the break to see some play.

A sad offensive record

In the 73rd, two local strikes were countered by the Albanian defense, following a nice pass from Ramsey. Neco Williams, who was not suspended despite his expulsion against France, forced Selmani to a nice save. Seconds later, the goalie also caught a header from Moore, who made a very good entry at the break. It is not much for a nation which will face Switzerland in a week before crossing the road of Turkey and finally of Italy.
