Villeneuve-la-Comptal. Seniors love sport, make way for Qi Gong

We knew about judo, rugby, football, handball, running or cycling, but not Qi Gong. The Villeneuvois were immersed in it during a session where calm reigned and where we learned to watch over its anchoring to the ground, to savor the delicacy of slow and delicate gestures, to feel the breathing retained or expelled.

Qi Gong is a gentle and slow gymnastics resulting from traditional Chinese medicine. From the Chinese « qi », which means « energy », and « gong », which means « work », it is based on the work of energy through the body. In healthy people, the practice of this discipline is an effective way to fight against the negative effects of sedentary lifestyle and aging, in particular in the context of the prevention of falls in the elderly, and in the fight against stress or depression. A session lasts 45 minutes to an hour and a half. It is based on a mixture of static and dynamic exercises gently soliciting the different parts of the body. Each of them produces a particular effect, both physical and mental. This program of 12 sessions is very positive for the well-being.
