VIDEO. Football – Ligue 1. Marshall Munetsi and Stade de Reims want to “take the points at home” against Stade Brestois

Marshall Munetsi will be one of the basic men of a Stade de Reims who will again be deprived of several key elements this Sunday February 20 (3 p.m.), on the occasion of the reception of Stade Brestois. Always so sunny and smiling, the Zimbabwean international, who should play in central defense against Brest, notably returned to the injury which kept him away from the field for long weeks before a remarkable comeback and a double scored against Bordeaux. , February 6 (5-0).“For me, it’s a gift to have a player like him. He smiles, is always happy, works very hard. He’s an example for everyone. » appreciates his coach, Oscar Garcia.

Marshall, it’s been two games since you came back from injury. How do you feel ?

Things are going well. I had not played for two months in Ligue 1 with the group. It’s a difficult moment for the group, we have a lot of injuries but we are working to take points at home against Brest.

Being away from the field for a long time has been complicated to live with?

When you play football, things like this happen. You have to work harder, with the right mentality, to come back and help the team. It’s the first time I’ve been injured for so long. It was complicated. If you stay on the side, you don’t go with the team. It was a habit for me to be with her all the time. It was also a moment to look at everything that was happening in my life, in my career, to see what I hadn’t done well during the first part of the championship.

Did you take advantage of this period to do something else too?

Yes, I benefited a lot (to smile). I also worked a lot on my French, to improve it. It’s not easy when you’re injured, you have time to do things and it was also an opportunity to see all the matches to give other players confidence. When I was on the bench in the game against Bordeaux, it was difficult to see Bilal (El Bilal Toure) or Thomas (Foket) get hurt, on the same situation.

Yunis Abdelhamid will be suspended against Brest. Against Nantes, you played in central defense with Wout Faes. Does it suit you to play central defender?

I already played with Wout in the last seasons when Yun’ was injured. For me, it’s good, I used to play in this position. But for us, Yun’ is a very important player, through his experience, his advice. Defender or midfielder, these are two different positions. Defender, it’s more with the head and the mouth, because we talk a lot. In the middle, it’s more box-to-box, to help the team when they have the ball or not, to score as I did against Bordeaux. If I am asked to play defender, no problem but I really like playing in the middle.

You scored twice against Bordeaux. The objective is to notice again against Brest?

(Laughs) The objective is to win this match at home. It doesn’t matter who scores as long as it helps the team. It made me happy to score and it gives me confidence to finish the championship.
