VIDEO – Aston Martin V12 RS trains on the Nürburgring

Aston Martin would be preparing to unveil a new version of the Vantage which would allow the sportswoman to reconnect with V12 engines. A first video of the car in action on the Green Hell is already visible on the Web.
Since its launch in 2018, the Aston Martin Vantage has only been available with an original AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that develops 510 horsepower. Unlike its predecessor, the car cannot opt for a V12 engine. We were starting to lose hope that Aston Martin would build such a version, but just a few days ago spy photographers spotted a mysterious Vantage-based prototype… with a V12 under the hood!
Besides, a few videos have started to emerge. On the statesidesupercars Youtube channel, the Aston Martin Vantage V12 prototype is seen training on the famous Nürburgring along with other prototypes, including the new Aston Martin DBX hybrid. Unfortunately, the sound is muffled, so we don’t clearly hear the roar of its V12. But a few notable changes suggest this Vantage doesn’t have a V8 under the hood. The fenders are much wider than the classic Vantage and there are additional air intakes as well as a modified hood. What make us say that it is a much bigger block which is hidden under the hood.
On sale soon ?
At the rear, the Vantage in question receives two central tailpipes. Chances are the more edgy Vantage in the lineup uses the same engine as the V12 Speedster, which is powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 producing 700 horsepower and 752 Nm of torque. It remains to be seen if Aston Martin’s V12 will be slightly reworked for the new hardcore Vantage which should be called « Vantage V12 RS ».
If so, it should be shown next year as part of a small mid-career restyling of the Vantage. It could also be a sort of final farewell for the Vantage before switching to a much quieter engine… Electric!
