The Porsche 911 GT3 is one of the most loved cars by enthusiasts. An atmospheric engine, plenty of sportiness and a mechanical gearbox for purists. Only problem: the mechanical box, it can be controlled.
The mechanical gearbox takes a bit of practice. The clip in question was recently shared on TikTok and shows a driver of a latest generation Porsche 911 GT3 (992) maneuvering in a parking lot. But the driver seems to have some problems with the manual transmission. He solicits the clutch without stopping, which must certainly cause damage to the German sports car. And that could surely cost him dearly.
At the start, we hear that the driver is pressing the clutch and the accelerator at the same time. This seems to inadvertently activate the « launch control » system. Next, the driver can be seen entering and exiting a parking space, over-exerting the clutch. In fact, it seems that the driver really has no idea how to drive a car with a gear lever. Attention purists, it can give chills.
What’s particularly bizarre about this video is that a number of people around the GT3 presumably seem to know the driver. None of them seem to care what’s going on. At one point, a man approaches the car and sits in the passenger seat while the owner continues to press the clutch for long seconds, while accelerating.
Meanwhile, the 4.0-liter flat-six revs up to redline. A priori, the sound does not reflect any damage to the gearbox. Remember that the Porsche 911 GT3 is available with both the PDK box and a mechanical box.
