Victor Gomes will referee the final Wydad Casablanca vs Al Ahly

Victor Gomes will be on the whistle in the 2021-22 CAF Champions League final. The highly anticipated clash takes place on Monday, May 30, 2022 at the Mohammed V stadium in Morocco between Al Ahly and Wydad Casablanca.

The Egyptians are aiming for a 3rd consecutive title, while the Moroccans are looking for another African C1 trophy, after those of 1992 and 2017. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reportedly appointed Gomes to officiate the final of the continental tournament. He has already refereed a CAF UCL semi-final match between these two teams in 2020. Al Ahly had won 5-1 on aggregate on the double confrontation.

Gomes has already refereed a final this year. This is the clash of the African Cup of Nations 2021 in Cameroon between Senegal and Egypt. The 39-year-old South African will be assisted by his compatriot Zakhele Siwela and Souru Phatsoane (Lesotho). Helder Martinez (Angola) is the fourth official, with VAR assigned to Bamlak Tessema (Ethiopia).
