Verstappen calls Ferrari’s qualifying strategy smart

Second on the grid at the Castellet circuit, Max Verstappen could do nothing to take pole from his rival Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver took advantage of the suction offered by his teammate Carlos Sainz to clinch the sixteenth pole position of his career. Knowing he was condemned to leave at the back of the grid, the Spaniard complied perfectly with the strategy put in place by his team.

The championship leader did not fail to salute this manoeuvre: “I think it was a smart thing to do (Ferrari’s strategy). And if any of us were to start from the back of the grid, that’s probably what we would do too. »

This is already the sixth time in twelve races that Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen will share the front row on the starting grid this season. The fight promises to be intense on the hot track of the Paul Ricard circuit this afternoon.
