Vacheron Constantin – Overseas « Everest » Limited Editions – Trends & Style

The sportiest of Vacheron Constantin’s collections opens up to new aesthetic horizons through two new variations: Overseas chronograph “Everest” and Overseas dual time “Everest”. These two limited editions of 150 numbered pieces are true accomplices of all challenges, at ease in everyday life as in the wildest exploits, as evidenced by Cory Richards who adopted the dual time model and photographed the chronograph in the Colorado.

Symbol of discovery and openness to the world, the Overseas collection explores new heights of elegance and robustness with two models with a strong sporting temperament. Inspired by the highest peak in the world, the Overseas chronograph “Everest” and Overseas dual Time “Everest” watches celebrate adventure and surpassing oneself. A state of mind embodied by the American explorer and photographer Cory Richards, one of the talents chosen by Vacheron Constantin to embody its One of not many communication campaign. In 2019, this seasoned mountaineer undertakes his third ascent of the Toit du monde via the North-East ridge, the route considered to be the most difficult and the most perilous, with on his wrist an Overseas dual time prototype specially developed by the House. This unique watch now lends its aesthetic codes to the two new Overseas “Everest” limited editions, photographed for the occasion by Cory Richards.

Most recognizable by the famous hexagonal bezel evoking the Maltese cross, the new models are distinguished by a powerful and distinctive style carried by a clever combination of materials alternating the use of titanium and steel. The middle, the bezel, the push-piece rings and push-pieces are made of titanium, a metal that is light, robust and resistant to corrosion. The only differences are the finishes: satin and polished for the middle; polished for pushers; micro-blasted for the bezel, the crown and the push-piece rings echoing the grain of the dial. The anthracite gray tones contrast with the steel reflections of the bezel ring. On the dial side, these watches opt for an elegant grained finish punctuated by touches of bright orange, a tonic color that matches the color of the stitching of the Cordura® strap lined with nubuck calfskin, ensuring both resistance and softness. carry. For versatile elegance, both models are equipped with the strap interchangeability system specific to the Overseas collection. This ingenious concept makes it possible, without any tools, to opt for the Cordura® or rubber strap supplied with the watches, and thus modulate styles according to desires and occasions.

Behind the scenes, the self-winding caliber 5200/2 beats time. Equipped with a double barrel, this manufacture movement is fitted with a column wheel ensuring the start, stop and reset of the chronograph function. Reliable and precise, this mechanism also has a vertical clutch to prevent any jump of the hand when the chronograph is started. In addition to technical performance, there is a particularly contemporary aesthetic. The NAC treatment of the plate thus echoes the charcoal gray shades of the piece. The 22-carat rose gold oscillating weight is engraved with the effigy of Mount Everest from a photograph taken by Cory Richards during one of his expeditions to the top of the Himalayas.

At the heart of its 41mm case cut from a combination of titanium and steel, the Overseas dual time “Everest” watch opts for the 5110 DT / 2 automatic manufacture movement allowing simultaneous reading of two time zones. In addition to the classic local time indications, a fourth orange hand terminated by an arrow displaying the original time is thus added, coupled with a day / night indicator of matching color. The date by hand at 6 o’clock is synchronized with local time, adjustable by push-piece. The two 12-hour time zones are adjustable by the crown in both directions. Visible through the sapphire crystal case-back, the anthracite gray NAC treatment of the mainplate brings a contemporary character to the movement. As a signature, the oscillating weight in 22-carat rose gold is adorned with an engraving of Everest inspired by a photograph by Cory Richards.
