USFL back in April 2022

The zombie leagues keep coming back. After the XFL, it’s the USFL’s turn to attempt a rebirth.

In April 2022, the USFL will therefore be back, with eight teams, divided into two divisions: North and South.

In the North, we will find the Michigan Panthers, New Jersey Generals, Philadelphia Stars and Pittsburgh Maulers. In the South, it will be the Birmingham Stallions, Houston Gamblers, New Orleans Breakers and Tampa Bay Bandits. These are the names of the franchises of the time. On the other hand, the men in charge are no longer the same. In the 80s, it was for example Donald Trump who owned the Generals.

Each team is expected to play 10 regular season games. The top two teams from each division will meet in the semi-finals and then in the title match.

The 1 dollar league

In service from 1983 to 1986, the United States Football League ended up sinking when it sued the NFL for violating antitrust laws. A lawsuit won, which had earned him… 1 symbolic dollar. The sum had been tripled, to $ 3, therefore, under antitrust laws.

The operation was completed with losses estimated at 163 million dollars at the time.

Maybe wait before taking subscriptions. A first attempt at a return in the early 2010s had already failed.
