Uruguay: Diego Alonso appointed coach

While Oscar Tabarez was sacked nearly a month ago, the Uruguayan team has found its new coach. Indeed, the AUF has announced that Diego Alonso will take over, he who was free since his departure from Inter Miami last January.

Former Argentine international (8 caps), Diego Alonso notably coached Peñarol and Bella Vista in Uruguay. The duration of his contract has not been communicated, but according to Uruguayan media he could be in post at least until the end of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. 7th in the South American group, there are four remaining days in Uruguay to snatch its ticket for the next World Cup.
