U Sports: McMaster punished

The McMaster University football team was forced to give up their first win of the year because the Marauders played an ineligible player.

This was announced by U Sports on Friday.

“The ineligibility is due to an administrative oversight in the paperwork involved in transferring a student between institutions. It is a most unfortunate circumstance,” explained the university establishment in a press release, while refusing to reveal the identity of the player in question.

The ineligible athlete was on the Marauders roster for the first two games of this campaign. They had lost their first game against the Carleton Ravens and then defeated the York Lions. The latter were therefore awarded a 1-0 win. This is their first victory since the 2019 season.
