The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has condemned the racist acts against Brazilian player Richarlison during the international friendly match between his country and Tunisia.
The Brazilian national team beat Tunisia 5-1 on Tuesday in a friendly match played at Parc des Princes in France. Richarlison had scored Brazil’s second goal of the match, and during his celebration, some fans threw bananas at the player. An act that is not passed over in silence. Plenty of official backlash preceded a tweet from Richarlison condemning the act.
CAF is not left out, it reacted by supporting the Brazilian player. “The Confederation of African Football condemns the racist acts directed against the Brazilian Richarlison during the international friendly match between Tunisia and Brazil in Paris this week. CAF stands in solidarity with Richarlison against this inhuman act,” communicated the umbrella organization of African football.
The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) issued a press release in which it denied the accusations made against its supporters, who were treated as racists. For its part, the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) reaffirmed its position that there is no place for racism and discrimination in the stadiums and rejected any form of belief. « The CBF reaffirms its position in the fight against racism and rejects all forms of prejudice, » wrote the CBF on its Twitter account.
