Transfers: Islam Slimani commits to Brest (official)

Islam Slimani is officially a Brest player. The 34-year-old Algerian striker, who had previously terminated the contract which bound him to Sporting CP (Portugal), signed on Thursday for a season with Brest, including another year as an option. Top scorer in the history of the Algerian selection (41 goals in 88 matches), Slimani finds his compatriots Youcef Belaïli and Haris Belkebla within the Breton club.

«  I spoke with Greg (Lorenzi, the Breton sporting director) and the coach and I felt confidence from them, this is the most important thing in footballreacted the former Monegasque. […] I think I can bring more to this team, especially thanks to my experience. I was not specifically targeting France, it was done by feeling. I know that Ligue 1 is physical, that you have to make a lot of effort and fight in every match to win points. »

It is the third club in France for the Algerian, after Monaco (2019-2020) and Lyon (Jan.2021-Jan.2022).
