Toyota Owners 400 – Presentation of the event
Find a presentation of the seventh event of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series championship, the Toyota Owners 400, in Richmond.
At Richmond Raceway, the NASCAR Premier Division will contest its first short track race of the season. This race will mark the start of three short track races, including one on gravel in Bristol over the Easter weekend.
Rcihmond’s short track has hosted NASCAR since April 19, 1953 and a race won by Lee Petty driving his Dodge at an average speed of 45.535 mph. At that time the route was only half a mile and was a dirt track. It will be necessary to wait for the course of the 1968 season for the asphalt to replace the earth.
Richard Petty has thirteen victories out of the 130 races contested in the NASCAR Cup Series at Richmond. Among the drivers in activity, Kyle Busch is the most victorious with nine successes (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and the two races of 2018).
With three new NASCAR Cup Series winners this season, will Richmond Raceway produce a fourth new winner? This has only happened five times in history. James Hylton (March 1, 1970), Neil Bonnett (September 11, 1977), Kyle Petty (February 23, 1986), Tony Stewart (September 11, 1999) and Kasey Kahne (May 14, 2005), opened their counters in Richmond.
