Tour Auto 2021: our photo report – Automotive Blog
At the time I am typing these lines, the Tour Auto is going through its last stage, to arrive in Nice. For our part, we followed the first stage, between Paris and Beaune, hoping to be able to bring you beautiful images. Between a well-made plateau and French landscapes, we had no excuse.
This 30th edition was placed under the sign of the Jaguar Mark II and the Ferrari 250 GT SWB. The first is not known for its record with the general public and yet it has won 3 consecutive class victories between 61 and 63. The second is a pure sports car legend and one of the most desired automobiles. by current collectors.
I will not repeat my verse on the copies authorized to participate in the Tour Auto. The more time passes, the more I evolve on the issue. Already because the information is now brought to our attention. Secondly, because the copies are of such quality, on Ferrari chassis, that even well-trained eyes find it difficult to tell the difference. Finally, because the success of the recreations and the price reached by another copy during the sale organized on the sidelines at the Grand Palais Ephémère (around one million), proves that there is a real demand for this type of model.
The battle for the general was once again fought between a Shelby Cobra and a Jaguar Type E, two models present in number each year. It is the American, driven by Christophe Van Riet who wins the scratch. Note the class victory of Mr John of B’s Matra MS650, thus demonstrating that it is possible to put a pure endurance prototype back on the country roads. In regularity, a Lancia Fluvia 1600 HF wins.
For those who have not already done so, we can only encourage you to come and watch the Tour Auto pass next year. Unless there is a new disaster, it will take place this time on its usual date, at the end of April. For those who prefer modern cars, a Ferrari convoy accompanies the competitors.
