Toronto FC get away with young Canadian player

Limited to one win in five games since the start of the Major League Soccer season, Toronto FC drew 1-1 with New York City FC on Saturday afternoon.

Substitute Jacob Shaffelburg helped the Toronto side avoid defeat by scoring in the 74th minute. The only 21-year-old Canadian from Nova Scotia had entered the game just five minutes earlier.

After a scoreless first half, the New York club opened the scoring, in the 53rd, through Jesus Medina.

Toronto FC are now 1-2-2 this season. The team’s next game is scheduled for next Saturday against Orlando City SC.
