Top remaining NHL free agents: Comtois, Tatar among the best available in August

[ad_1]

It was a wild start to NHL free agency.

More than 160 players signed new deals on July 1. There weren’t a ton of big contracts signed, but teams looking to snag some value and depth feasted on an open market. Things have since calmed down significantly, but we did see another name from our Top 75 slide off the board this week, with Vladimir Tarasenko, easily the top remaining UFA, inking a one-year deal with the Ottawa Senators. He was our No. 9 ranked free agent.

With Matt Dumba off the board, Patrick Kane is the best as the best UFAs still on the market. Kane’s agent Pat Brisson recently suggested Kane won’t sign before the start of the season and will wait until he’s recovered from his hip surgery.

Now, 24-year-old Max Comtois, veterans Tomas Tatar and Jonathan Toews, and goaltender Jaroslav Halak are among the top names to watch.

As the free agent feeding frenzy continues, which top UFAs remain unsigned? Here’s a look, with Seravalli’s original rank in place:
