Under a deal struck with FTX in 2021, the newly retired NFL player received $30 million in stock in the company for his promotional work in TV commercials and at his conference. His spouse at the time, Gisele Bündchen, also reportedly received $18 million in stock, as evidenced by a report.
The company’s CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, is facing federal fraud charges.
The winner of seven career Super Bowl titles also had several legal problems in connection with this case. Brady and Bündchen, who divorced in October, are both being sued by FTX investors who want to be reimbursed by the celebrities who supported them. Legendary basketball player Shaquille O’Neal was also sued in the case, as were Stephen Curry and professional tennis player Naomi Osaka.
