Tom Boonen: “I dream of the 24 hours of Le Mans and the 24 hours of Spa”

Legend of cycling, with in particular his four victories on Paris-Roubaix, Tom Boonen is now embarking on a new career, that of the automobile. And with great success. The former world champion has just won his first major car race at the wheel of a Porsche. « It’s true that I’m surprised to win my category from my first race in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. I came with no particular expectations. Just give my all, hope for a top 10 overall and a category podium. First on the podium, it’s already a big dream come true for me. »explains the Belgian in an interview with The RTBF.

Tom Boonen then talked about his next goals. The one who started driving on the circuit from the age of 21 is planning on the rest of his career and has set himself great ambitions: « I am a sportsman at heart. So I’m not looking for the easy. Here, the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux is the highest level you can find in the Benelux. I dream of the 24 hours of Spa and Le Mans. I’m working on trying to ride there this year. And if it’s not this season, it will be next. […] In my life, there are two sports: cycling and motorsport. I also love riding a motorcycle!«
