Three-season entry contract for Joshua Roy


MONTREAL — The general manager of the Club de hockey Canadien, Kent Hughes, announced Wednesday that the team has agreed to the terms of a three-year entry contract with forward Joshua Roy (2022-2023 to 2024-2025).

The agreement will bring Roy $750,000 in the NHL in 2022-2023 and includes a signing bonus of $92,500, while he will receive $10,500 if he plays in the juniors. The contract will bring Roy $775,000 in the NHL for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, in addition to signing bonuses of $92,500 (2023-24) and $85,000 (2024-2025). Roy will earn $80,000 per season in the American League.

Aged 18, Roy ranks second in QMJHL scoring with 92 points (36 goals, 56 assists) in 50 games in a Sherbrooke Phoenix uniform this season.

The 6’00 » and 186 lb left winger is in his third campaign on the Courteau circuit, having totaled 171 points (74 goals, 97 assists) in 145 games since 2019 with the Phoenix and the Saint Sea Dogs. -Jean, who selected him first in the 2019 QMJHL draft.

Roy was selected in the fifth round (150th overall) by the Canadiens in the 2021 NHL Draft.
