three people arrested in Ain and indicted


Three people suspected of having committed a series of 33 burglaries in several departments of the region (Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Isère, Ain) between October 2021 and April 2022, were arrested in Ain and presented to an investigating judge this Tuesday April 12 in Annecy, indicates the prosecution in a statement. The three individuals aged 26, 27, and 63were indicted for « organized theft and participation in a criminal association » and remanded in custody.

300,000 euros worth of luxury watches

« The searches carried out at the homes led to the discovery of 184,175 euros in cash, luxury watches (Rolex Daytona, Breitling, Chopard, Zenith Elite, Audemars Piguet…), whose estimated value is greater than 300,000 euros, as well as precious stones and numerous jewels and luxury items. Five vehicles were seized as well as 67,433 euros in bank accounts. Several handguns were also discovered », indicates the floor. The total amount of damage is estimated at this stage at approximately 1 million 300,000 euros partly in France and partly in Switzerland.

They were arrested as they arrived near their clandestine garage

« The team used a falsely registered large engine vehicle, stolen in October 2020 in Haute-Savoie, to sometimes commit several burglaries during the same night in several departments ». Investigators « first managed to identify the storage location of the vehicle », then « by careful cross-checking » and grace « to the field work of soldiers specializing in discreet observation and surveillance », the three respondents (residing in Isère) were arrested last Friday, in Ain, in the Saint-Germain-les-Paroisses sector.

It was the Dijon GIGN branch that intervened to arrest them last Friday, around 4:30 p.m., when the three criminals, « suspected of being able to act armed »were « suv arriving near the clandestine garage », in Ain. According to the gendarmerie, the arrest of the three individuals took place « without bumps or damage ».

The operation to dismantle this group of burglars mobilized more than a hundred gendarmes from Haute-Savoie, Ain and Isère as well as four Geneva police officers and lasted nearly 24 hours. An international letter of request had also been opened with the Geneva police for an investigation into « 24 additional facts identified in Switzerland ». On the French side, the investigation was carried out by the research brigade of the Annecy gendarmerie company.
