This rare racing Ferrari is on sale, famous drivers have succeeded at the wheel

It is a piece of motor racing history that is offered for sale by RM Sotheby’s. This Ferrari 410 Sport Spider put into circulation in 1955 was indeed driven by some of the greatest drivers in the world. Besides some F1 drivers like Phil Hill, Eugenio Castellotti or even Masten Gregory, Carroll Shelby and Juan Manuel Fangio have taken up residence behind the wheel. The car is designed and built by Sergio Scaglietti himself.
This 410 Sport Spider is in fact one of the most important big-block engined Ferrari models of its time. Only two copies of the 410 Sport inherit this V12 4.9 block, one of the largest engines ever produced by the Maranello firm. Equipped with three Weber carburettors, it develops around 400 horsepower. This makes this Ferrari 410 Sport Spider chassis number 0589 CM a real racing beast, which allows Carroll Shelby to win many races.

At the wheel of this beauty, the American crossed eight finish lines in first position, and won ten podiums. As RM Sotheby’s relates, he had two of his finest seasons at the wheel of the Italian in 1956 and 1957, driving for the John Edgar team. The 410 Sport Spider also distinguished itself in the world sports car championship during the 1,000 kilometers of Buenos Aires, notably driven by Fangio.

Decades later, the Ferrari 410 Sport Spider took part in several Concours d’Elegance, changing ownership from time to time. It is on display at Pebble Beach in 2012, the year Carroll Shelby disappeared. It then underwent a full engine rebuild, completed in 2016. The car is auctioned at the 2022 edition of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California in August 2022.
The price of this Ferrari 410 Sport Spider could skyrocket. It is estimated between 25 and 35 million euros according to some of our colleagues.
