This club that broke a transfer record

By recruiting 21 players, and perhaps soon 22, during this summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest broke a record for arrivals for their return to the English top flight.

They almost recruited two teams! While Loïc Badé finally got the backing of Rennes for a one-season loan to Nottingham Forest, the English club thus formalized its 21st summer recruit on Thursday evening! The previous English record, with 17 arrivals at Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window of 2017, is therefore shattered, while the residents of the City Ground almost reached 22 recruits. Because Michy Batshuayi was about to commit, but Chelsea, entangled in other files, including that of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, could not send the documents in time to validate the arrival of the Belgian striker . But this figure of 22 arrivals could however be reached with that of Serge Aurier, free of any contract since the end of his adventure at Villarreal and who should sign a one-year lease, with an optional second year according to L’Equipe.

More than 170 million spent!

Back in the Premier League after 23 years of absence, the double European champion (1979 and 1980) sees things big, with more than 170 million euros spent! Forest currently sits 15th in the standings, with a record of three defeats, including a very heavy one on Manchester City’s lawn last Wednesday (0-6), a win and a draw. In detail, the most expensive player to have been recruited is Morgan Gibbs-White (nearly 30 million euros, without bonuses), ahead of Taiwo Awoniyi (20.5 million euros) and Neco Williams (20 million ), while others were poached for much less, such as the Franco-Ivorian Willy Boly. But if the Midlands club has therefore recruited 21 players this summer, it has also lost many. Because 27 players left, including former Marseille goalkeeper Brice Sambahero of the qualification during the penalty shootout of the last semi-final of the play-offs of accession to the English elite against Sheffield United and who joined RC Lens in the off-season.
