They will make 2023 in Indycar and NASCAR
IndyCar – Back in downtown Detroit
Contested in Belle Isle Park since 2012, the Indycar round of Detroit, traditionally organized a week after the Indianapolis 500 Miles (June 4 for the 2023 edition), will find the streets of the city center of the largest city of Michigan in 2023. The new route will be spread around the Renaissance Center and will take a small portion of the old urban circuit, which notably hosted Formula 1 during the 1982 season. JB
NASCAR – “Boogity boogity boogity” hits the streets of Chicago
Downtown Chicago will be the scene of the first street race in NASCAR Cup Series history on July 1-2, 2023. The track will be laid out along the shores of Lake Michigan and Grant Park to accommodate not only the Next Gen, but also a round of the IMSA championship. After the Clash at the Los Angeles Coliseum (February 5, 2023) and the entry by Hendrick Motorsports of a Next Gen at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023 (June 10-11), this is a new great first for the US series which is continuing its development strategy. Twelve turns make up the figure-of-eight course with a total length of 2.2 miles (3.54 km). The start/finish line and pit lane are located along South Columbus Drive, opposite Buckingham Fountain.
