Originally, this 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider caught fire after an accident during a race nearly 60 years ago. But now, impossible to find a trace of its red color, nor of its wheels. She could go 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and could reach 235 km/h. In particular, she participated in Imola Grand Prixin Italy, the year of its manufacture.

A historic car

In 1958, this Ferrari is exported to the United States and she participates in races. It then changes hands several times.

In 1963, its owner, a vintage car dealer partly owned by Sotheby’s, replaced its original engine with an American V8. It was a common practice then. But over the next two years, she caught fire while racing. It was then decided to keep it as it was. It is now one of 20 Ferraris offered for sale in RM Sotheby’s collection. Rob Myers, its CEO, says: “While a select group of Ferrari collectors knew of the existence of these extraordinary cars, the rest of the world did not know they existed. This is a unique opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire these iconic Ferraris. »
