For several days now, visitors to the Fernando Alonso Museum, located in the Asturias region of Spain, have been able to admire the Toyota Hilux Dakar, the vehicle with which the Spanish driver took part in the Dakar Rally in 2020. It is not about a replica but well and truly of the car with which the two-time F1 world champion finished in 13th place in the standings. This prototype is therefore found alongside the Formula 1 single-seaters and also the Toyota TS050 HYBRID with which it won the WEC in 2019.
“While F1 is the heart of the museum and of my career, prototypes such as Le Mans and Daytona and this one from the Dakar add value for visitors, who can come and see a bit of all the disciplines of motorsport that has been part of my history for the last few years ”, said Fernando Alonso. The current Alpine pilot also added that he had lived « A spectacular experience both on a professional and human level » and that he « Would surely try again » to participate in a second participation in the Dakar.
