81% of French people watch sports at least once a month according to the Global Sports Survey 2021 study conducted by Altman Solon, a strategy consulting firm dedicated to the telecommunications, media and technology sectors.
Sports fans consume 20 hours of live television / video per week. They would spend, according to the study, only 2 hours for sport on television. In the wake of the increase in paid and online offers, sports fans only watch 2 hours of sports on television per week on average. Smartphones are becoming an increasingly popular sports streaming device, especially among young people. Thus, 18-34 year olds are the biggest consumers of sports with 7 hours of viewing per week against 6 hours for 35+. 73% of them use their smartphone to watch sports at least once a month compared to 40% for 35+.

Altman Solon conducted the Global Sports Survey 2021 in August-September with more than 18,000 respondents in 16 countries, including 1,098 in France. Altman Solon drew on its expertise across its 13 global offices to implement the survey and analyze the data.
