The « Reverse Retro » jerseys available in NHL 21

Adidas’ hugely popular “Reverse Retro” jerseys, which will be worn at various times throughout the 2020-21 season, have already been added to the NHL 21 video game, EA Sports confirmed Thursday.

The news surprised several supporters on social media. EA also shared a short video showing virtual players in action with the new retro jerseys.

The addition of the « Reverse Retro » jerseys is in line with the theme « The past meets the present » of NHL 21, in which we find NHL 94 Rewind, a version of the game in 16-bit architecture that resembles the old ones in every way. NHL video games, but with current team formations.

In photos shared Thursday, the player on the cover of the game, the captain of the Washington Capitals Alex ovechkin, is in the center and wears his team’s “Reverse Retro” jersey. Ovechkin is alongside the player of the 2020 edition of the video game, Auston matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and of the 2018 edition, the captain of the Edmonton Oilers Connor mcdavid.

Other players who featured on the game’s cover and can be seen in the photos wearing a “Reverse Retro” jersey include the New Jersey Devils defenseman. PK Subban (NHL 19), captain of the Philadelphia Flyers Claude Giroux (NHL 13) and Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick kane (NHL 10).
