the restomod goes into production
RML has just produced the first example of a new version of the legendary Ferrari 250 GT SWB. Its price will be very high, but not as much as that of an authentic 250 GT SWB from which it is inspired.
Here is (another) one new restomod. These new cars recent technologybut inspired by iconic models of automotive production. But, while some projects remain at the virtual presentation stage, the RML Short Wheelbase is already moving to the production stage. The British company has thus finished the first copy which is intended for development work. A first copy which will also serve to tempt future buyers of this jewel whose production will be very limited.
Ferrari 550 Maranello
Technically, the RML Short Wheelbase is based on a Ferrari 550 Maranello chassis. In order to provide the best possible performance, the pendant lights have however been modified with the integration of shock absorbers of the brand Ohlins. Important work on mass reduction and improving the distribution of these have resulted in significant changes.
Thus, the body is fully realized carbon fiber while the front overhang was reduced and the battery moved from the engine to the trunk.
300 km/h
If the bodywork of this RML Short Wheelbase does not show any Ferrari logo, the engine does not. Adorned with the prancing horse, the Atmospheric V12 comes from the 550 Maranello and product 485 horsepower for a couple of 570Nm. With the limited weight of the model, the performance promises to be stratospheric: 300 km/h peak and just 4.1 seconds to go from 0 to 96 km/h.
The millions
RML will offer 30 copies of this Short Wheelbase at a price set at £1.35 million per unit. Is around €1.62 million. This is obviously a very large sum, but which is put into perspective very quickly when we observe the prices of a genuine Ferrari 250 GT SWB. This legend, which appeared at the end of the 1950s and of which only 167 copies were produced, is worth at least several million euros today.
