The Porsche 911 GT3 RS appears before its presentation on August 17
We’ve seen the next-gen Porsche 911 GT3 RS a few times already, and we know development work is nearing completion. A new official teaser image from Stuttgart confirms that the new top-of-the-line 911 is set to make its debut very soon. Porsche plans to unveil the sports car on August 17!
There’s not much text accompanying the preview image, but at least Porsche confirms this sports car’s powertrain. Unsurprisingly, it will be the 4.0-liter flat-six engine, which will develop « around 500 horsepower ». Rumor has it that the naturally aspirated engine will develop 520 horsepower and will be able to rev up to 9500 rpm.

« The new 911 GT3 RS has been optimized for racetrack use even more so than its predecessors. The spontaneously responsive, high-revving four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine with an output of around proven ideal for use on the circuit and at club sporting events »comments Andreas Preuninger, director of the GT model line at Porsche. « That’s why we mainly focused on aerodynamics and chassis issues when developing the new 911 GT3 RS. »
The only teaser image available shows us a prototype of the new 911 GT3 RS on what appears to be a section of the Nürburgring. We have already seen several similar test cars and know some of the visual changes compared to the 911 GT3. For example, at the front, a pair of vertical fins on either side of the bumper will be added to improve aerodynamics. From the side, the 911 GT3 RS receives vents in the front fenders, additional aerodynamics behind the front wheel and an air intake in the rear fenders.
Porsche is currently displaying its 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 Touring on the French market at €182,167. We can expect the 911 GT3 RS to drive up the bill to at least €200,000.
