The Peak Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy Grand Prix 2008

Relive a new historic IndyCar race with the Peak Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy Grand Prix held during the 2008 season at Sonoma Raceway.

The 2008 season marks the reunification of the Champ Car on one side and the Indy Racing League on the other after 16 years of internal quarrel which has constantly dragged down the American single-seater. 2008 is therefore the year of renewal with a merger of two moribund championships.

After the Kentucky race won by Scott Dixon, his sixth of the season, IndyCar heads to California and Sonoma Raceway for the penultimate race of the championship. The New Zealander from Chip Ganassi Racing has a lead of 78 points over his runner-up Hélio Castroneves.

The Brazilian from Team Penske slams pole position at an average of 100.254 mph. He shares the front row of the starting grid with his Australian teammate, Ryan Briscoe. Will Power and Tony Kanaan are second in line. Scott Dixon is pushed back to the third row, in fifth position.

Twenty-seven drivers are at the start of this Sonoma race.
