The Panthers will be champions, according to a simulation of the NHL 22 video game

Twenty-six years after meeting swords in the Stanley Cup final, the Florida Panthers will get their revenge on the Colorado Avalanche this spring.

At least, that’s the conclusion of EA Sports’ NHL 22 video game, which performed the playoff simulation.

The Cup will remain in Florida, but will move to the east coast of the state, as the Panthers erase the pain suffered in 1996, when they lost in four games against the Avalanche.

According to the simulation, the Panthers, who won the Presidents’ Trophy as regular season champions, will defeat the Avalanche in six games. Previously, they will have eliminated the Washington Capitals in five games in the first round of the Eastern Conference, then the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games in the next round. Finally, the Boston Bruins will fall in six games to allow Florida to reach the final.

The Avalanche, who finished the season with the best record in the Western Conference, will sweep the Nashville Predators in the first round before upsetting the Minnesota Wild in five games in the next round. In the conference final, the Calgary Flames will push the series to the limit, but Colorado will win.

Two-time Stanley Cup champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning will go down in six games against the Maple Leafs in the first round.

Fans will also be treated to two surprises in the first round, as the Boston Bruins take down the Carolina Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Penguins do the same against the New York Rangers, in seven games for the two series.

Last year, the NHL 21 game predicted the Boston Bruins would lift the Stanley Cup after beating the Vegas Golden Knights. The Bruins finally lost in the second round against the New York Islanders, while the Golden Knights were stopped in the semifinals against the Montreal Canadiens.
