The Nets fully on a former Lakers to aim for the title?!

The Nets will have to finally turn a corner this season and reach the conference final, especially after the eventful summer they have just experienced. To achieve this, Sean Marks could still activate, and a former Lakers would be targeted by Brooklyn management.

This season the objective will be clear in Brooklyn: the title and nothing else. It must be said that since the combined arrivals of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the summer of 2019, the results don’t necessarily match the talent of the two All-Stars. Whether because of injuries or because of a heavy atmosphere in the locker room, the Nets have never managed to reach the final of the Eastern Conference, which is a task for the moment.

But this summer, despite the many adventures and the chaos hovering in the sky of the Big Apple, GM Sean Marks was able to build a workforce that could not be more talented to surround his star partner and Ben Simmons. Royce O’Neale and TJ Warren will bring their experience, while veteran Markieff Morris should provide the dose of toughness necessary to hope to go far.

Kyle Kuzma targeted by the Nets?!

If the progress is notable compared to the workforce of the previous year, everything would not yet be closed in Brooklyn, and according to an anonymous executive interviewed by the site Heavy.com, the leaders would still have a few targets in mind. For example, a former Lakers, champion in 2020 in the bubble, could well be affected by a big trade:

Brooklyn? I don’t feel like the team is completely closed. They obviously like all the young players in the squad, but let’s be honest, the clock is ticking and their window to play for the title could quickly close. They need to win this season. Cam Thomas and Day’Ron Sharpe are two players the Wizards might be interested in trading for Kyle Kuzma.

Even with the return of Bradley Beal and the expected explosion for Kristaps Porzingis, the Wizards may not necessarily have the weapons to get involved in the fight for the title. Under these conditions, and with such a talented draft class as the one coming, the leaders could begin a real reconstruction by exchanging a few talented players.

Among the veterans who could be coveted, we obviously find Kyle Kuzma, champion with the Lakers in 2020 and who presents an interesting profile, especially for the Nets. Ben Simmons is still not a great shooter, so it will be necessary to surround him with interiors capable of dismissing the game, which is sorely lacking in Brooklyn. The former Los Angeles darling would fit perfectly into this environment.

The time is no longer necessarily to develop young players in Brooklyn, but to win. To meet this ambitious objective, Sean Marks could exchange his young talents for confirmed veterans, and Kyle Kuzma would be a smart target.
