The most beautiful and valuable Ferraris in the Middle East

The first edition of Cavallino Classic Middle East, the Concours d’Elegance reserved for Ferraris, was won by American collector Connor Cogan, who received the 2021 Best of Show for his 1953 Ferrari 250 Europa.

The spectacular example bearing the chassis number 0295 and the two-tone red and black coupé bodywork of Vignale was voted the most beautiful car of the competition. This is the same example exhibited by the Modena company at the Paris Motor Show in October 1953.

The award was presented to Mr. Cogan during the gala dinner hosted at Casa Ferrari by Enrico Galliera, Marketing and Commercial Director of Ferrari, and Luigi Orlandini, President and CEO of Canossa Events, organizer of the event which took place between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from December 9 to 12, 2021, under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

A selection of Ferraris were exhibited at the « Motor Valley @ Dubai Expo », an event promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region and organized by Canossa Events itself.

Supercars, hypercars and historic cars, only Ferraris

The Cavallino Classic Middle East 2021 Concours d’Elegance took place between the Dubai Opera (at the foot of the tallest skyscraper in the world, the Burj Khalifa) and the Casa Ferrari on the lawn of the Yas Links Golf Club at the Abu Dhabi address. Some of the rarest and most valuable Ferraris from the prancing horse marque’s more than seventy-year history were on display, from historic cars of the 1950s to newer supercars and hypercars such as the 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, Testarossa and Monza SP1 and SP2 from the Icona collection.

For 30 years, the Cavallino Classic has been one of the most important and well-known Concours d’Elegance around the Ferrari brand, an unmissable event for collectors and fans of the Maranello firm, which is held every year in Palm Beach, Florida, since 1992. Since 2021, two special editions have been offered, one in Modena, Italy, and the other in the United Arab Emirates, titled Cavallino Classic Middle East.

Originality above all

The participating Ferraris, all invited and selected by the Cavallino Classic organizing committee, were evaluated by the judges according to IAC/PFA (International Advisory Committee for the Preservation of the Ferrari Automobile) criteria which promote the preservation of cars in their original and authentic condition. Restoration and cosmetic treatments, on the other hand, have a lower value in the final judgment.

Only Ferraris over 20 years old can compete for the Best of Show trophy, as well as the Platinum Award, while all competing cars are eligible for the other awards. Winning cars are invited to a special display at the upcoming Palm Beach Cavallino Classic scheduled for January 20-23, 2022.

Following the competition, the President and General Manager of Canossa Events, Luigi Orlandini, said:

“An extraordinary event, filled with very high-level cars. As to be expected in this part of the world, which has only recently discovered the fascination of classic cars, many of the Ferraris entered were produced in later years. close to us, with a general average age of cars and competitors below normal.

The condition of the cars reflects the collector’s approach typical of the Gulf countries, where people seek classic cars with very low odometer readings and where there is a strong preference for preserved rather than restored cars.

It was a great organizational challenge and we are delighted that collectors responded enthusiastically to this first-ever event, bringing in exceptional cars from Europe and the United States. Special thanks to Ferrari Middle East and Al Tayer Motors for their great collaboration, and especially to the Canossa Events team who, as always, managed to organize a perfect event. »
