the Lezprit RÉquipe sports recycling center now offers a second life to nautical equipment

Since 2019, thanks to a partnership between the French Sailing Federation and APER (the eco-organization for pleasure boats), sailing clubs have been invited to recycle their boats at the end of their life.

The idea of the Lezprit RÉquipe sports recycling center in Montpellier goes even further: reuse unused or damaged nautical equipment, even before recycling it, thus giving them a second life.

The association, based at 465 avenue Jean Mermoz in Montpellier, therefore launched the « La Bordée » project at the end of 2021. A project built in partnership with the Ligue de Voile Occitanie and APER.

Its principle is to develop the collection, recovery and redistribution of nautical equipment.

A first collection wave thus made it possible to collect 5 tons of material in three months. A second fundraising campaign will be launched this fall.

« We are mainly focusing on the reuse and reuse of nautical items » explains Kevin Blanchard, General Coordinator of Lezprit Team.

« If there is a hole in the window of a windsurfing canvas, we repair it. We also work on dinghies, surfboards, diving suits, masks, snorkels, flippers, etc. …Our first concern is to see that we sometimes throw away a large amount of material, when potentially we can repair and reuse it. »

La Bordée was the winner of the « Avenir Littoral » call for projects financed to the tune of 56,700 euros by the State and the Occitanie region, as part of the Littoral 21 Plan.
