Lamborghini announces the end of production of the Aventador in its atmospheric V12 version. The last one left the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory, it is an Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Roadster in a special color, Ad Personam light blue. This latest Ultimae will join its happy owner in Switzerland.
As a reminder, Lamborghini had been forced to relaunch production of the Ultimae after a boat, the Felicity Ace, carrying 15 copies of the supercar was wrecked in early 2022.
The end of an era
It was during the 2011 Geneva Motor Show that the first Aventador was presented to the general public as the Aventador LP 700-4, 700 for the number of horsepower and 4 for the number of driving wheels. One thing is certain, there was a before and after Aventador at Lamborghini. It was the first car from the Italian brand to receive an all-new V12, entirely developed by Lamborghini, giving unprecedented performance.
The design is iconic, it has put Lamborghini in the future while keeping the lines that had made the success of its predecessors. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said at the model’s launch: « The Aventador is a two-generation leap in design and technology, with an exceptional package of unique and innovative technologies and performance that is simply overwhelming ».
A real success for Lamborghini
In total, the Lamborghini Aventador was available in eight distinct models and will be a real commercial success. In the entire career of the Aventador, 11,465 cars will be delivered. Several very interesting data that once again show the success of this model. Lamborghini has sold more Aventadors than all of its previous V12 models combined. In its fifth year of production, the Aventador sold 5,000 units, the same as Murcielago’s throughout its career.
Lamborghini therefore stops production of the Aventador with an atmospheric V12 engine but is already preparing the sequel with a hybrid Aventador scheduled for 2023.
