The final of the Belcar de Zolder with American Nascar sauce

It is this weekend that the final of the Belcar championship takes place on the Zolder circuit, the rebirth of which, without the small prototypes and in a period of crisis, has not been as obvious as expected. And as tradition dictates, this last round of the season, which will take place over 125 minutes on Sunday from 3 p.m., will take place at the American Festival hosting the European Nascar.

A good twenty cars are expected for what should be the consecration at the level of the absolute title of the Audi R8 LMS GT2 of Bert and Stienes Longin associated with Pieter Guelinckx. Despite their absence at the last round at the Nürburgring, the winning trio of the 24 Hours of Zolder still have a 19.5 point lead in the championship with 37 to go. Barring abandonment or disaster, it will therefore be in the pocket for the GT with the rings, which is clearly superior in pure performance compared to the Lamborghini Supertrofeo and the Porsche 992 Cup.

On the Nascar side, where the peloton has now reached around thirty cars, our compatriots are less numerous than usual with only three Belgians in Pro against Allon Day (favorite for his own succession), Alexander Graff, Romain Iannetta or even Sebastian Bleekemolen. We note the presence of regulars Pol Van Pollaert (PK) and Marc Goossens (Speedhouse), but above all the return to competition of Anthony Kumpen. After four years of license suspension for doping, the Hasselt rooster is determined to make the powder speak again. At almost 44 years old, the former Nascar and Belcar champion has trained a lot. He says he always laps the times of the best and will immediately aim for the podium within his own team.
