The famous 24 Hours of Daytona BOP

The DPi class, which has been reduced to a two-manufacturer battle between Acura and Cadillac for this past year, sees no major performance-related changes from last year’s BoPs for the Roar and the 24 Hours of Daytona. .

Published on Wednesday, the table helped define the starting technical configuration for the new categories, the GTD Pro and the GTD as well as for the Corvette C8.R GTD.

The old GTLM category car, adapted to the GT3 platform, will participate in the Roar Before the Rolex 24 event with an air restriction reduced to 41.3 mm and a minimum weight increased to 1320 kg. By comparison, last year at Daytona, the Corvette in GTE configuration was equipped with a 44.5mm air restriction and weighed 1270kg. In addition, the Corvette will also be configured with ABS and modified aerodynamics.

IMSA has also made a number of changes to other GTDs compared to last year. The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 saw its minimum weight increase by 30 kg, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo by 10 kg and the Porsche 911 GT3 R by 45 kg, offset by a 3 mm increase in its air filter, which will allow it to increase its power. Acura’s NSX GT3 Evo22 and 2020 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo, meanwhile, saw their turbo power reduced from 2021 levels. The regulator also established the BoP for the McLaren 720S GT3 and the new BMW M4 GT3, which did not participate in last year’s race.

In accordance with the regulations, IMSA reserves the right to make BoP adjustments specific to each GTD Pro and GTD category if necessary, but it appears that IMSA is in favor of maintaining the same levels of performance in the two GT3 categories.
