American businessman Bill Foley, at the head of a consortium of investors, has bought the entirety of English club Bournemouth, currently 14th in the Premier League, from Russian-Briton Maxim Demin, the club announced on Tuesday.

Foley, who also owns the American ice hockey franchise Vegas Golden Knights (NHL), becomes the president of the Cherries and will be present for the next game at home, against Crystal Palace, on December 31.

« We will apply the always-forward, never-backward approach that has characterized all of my investments« , he added. The amount of the sale has not been made public but its previous owner, Maxim Demin, valued AFC Bournemouth at 175 million euros.

Foley now controls 50.1% through Cannae Holdings; the rest is held by its partners in the Black Knight Football Club, the consortium led by the American businessman, including the American actor Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther). With Bournemouth, and after the takeover of Chelsea by Todd Boehly last year, half of the Premier League clubs now have American shareholders in their capital.

Fenway Sports Group, which controls Liverpool, is however looking for new investors and would be ready to let go of control of the Reds, while the Glazer family, which owns Manchester United, announced its intention to sell the Red Devils this fall.
