The Colorado Avalanche regained the advantage against the St Louis Blues on Saturday after Game 3 of the conference semi-final, which pits the two teams against each other in the NHL play-offs. The Denver franchise has indeed won in Missouri (5-2). She had won the first game of the series (3-2), at home, before being dominated on her ice (4-1) in the next game.
In the first period, Logan O’Connor, the Avalanche right winger, answered Colton Parayko’s goal. Then Colorado escaped, on goals from Nazem Kadri and Artturi Lehkonen. At the end of the second period, Ryan O’Reilly, however, allowed St Louis to stay in contact with his opponent. In the next 20 minutes, two goals from Gabriel Landeskog and again Lehkonen finally saw Denver secure their lead.
The match was marked by a funny incident. The St Louis Blues lost their goalkeeper Jordan Binnington very early, victim of a collision with Nazem Kadri, but also one of his teammates, Calle Rosen. All these little people even ended up in the goal. In a post-match interview, a bottle of water was allegedly thrown at Kadri, and Kadri said it was Binnington who did it. The incident, however, took place off-camera.
The St Louis keeper was injured in action. He suffers from a lower body injury and is doubtful for game 4, which will take place on Monday, on the ice of the Blues.
