The Clippers shine, not the Lakers

While the Clippers went to win on the floor of the Hornets (90-115), the Lakers had to deal without LeBron James and lost to the Hawks (129-121).

The Los Angeles Clippers have resumed their march forward. Beaten this Friday by the Miami Heat, the Californians continued their « road trip » with a third victory in five consecutive games away from their bases. If the Clippers raced in the lead from the first moments of the meeting, LaMelo Ball’s teammates (23 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists) were able to hold the shock and contain the lead of their opponents under ten points during the first three quarters. The Hornets have even been able to pass in front of the scoreboard five times… but never take more than a point lead.

It was at the start of the last twelve minutes that the situation began to deteriorate for Charlotte. Despite the absences of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George or even Nicolas Batum, the Clippers flew away in the last quarter. Reggie Jackson (19 points, 5 assists) and Brandon Boston Jr off the bench (19 points, 5 rebounds) allowed the California franchise to seek a 25-point success (90-115) and balance their record at 26 wins for 26 losses. The Hornets, meanwhile, saw their two-game winning streak come to an end.

No « King », no victory for the Lakers

The Lakers, meanwhile, continue their way of the cross. On the move on the Hawks’ floor, the Los Angeles players conceded a third straight defeat. A meeting for which they could not compose with LeBron James. Indeed, victim of a swelling in the left knee, the « King » will be at rest for an indefinite period. Despite this, teammates Malik Monk (33 points, 10 rebounds) and Anthony Davis (27 points, 5 rebounds) raced in the lead for most of the first quarter before stumbling in the final moments.

The Hawks held on to the scoreboard but were eventually trailed by nine points when they returned to the locker room. The Lakers then took a ten-point lead early in the third quarter. It was then that the Hawks reacted under the impetus of Trae Young (36 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists) and John Collins (20 points, 11 rebounds)… before taking a burst to find themselves trailing ten points to the start of the last twelve minutes. A last quarter that finally allowed the Hawks to reverse the trend to conclude with an 8-0 to win (129-121), their seventh victory in a row.
